Firenze- The Rail to Florence 3/4

Writer: kimmy cuthbertkimmy cuthbert

After spending two days in Venice, it was time to travel to Florence by train! Just like our arrival in Venice via water taxi, we took another one to reach the train station. I must admit it was chaotic as we prepared to catch the train. Our journey began when we left the NH hotel; I was starting to feel a bit unwell, but I managed to ignore it. As we got into the water taxi, I looked around and began to admire the Venetian surroundings. Upon arriving at the train station, it was a mad dash, as we had only 5 minutes to board the train. There were 10 of us, which meant 10 pieces of luggage and 10 carry-ons.

As we took our seats, the train began its journey to Florence. If you seek my advice on European travel, I would say that train travel is the ideal choice, as it offers the best views of the stunning landscapes. Our Costco travel package included rail transportation to Florence and Rome. The only drawback was that it didn't cover local transportation, so we had to take an Uber to reach the hotel.

Upon arriving at our hotel, we found the weather in Florence to be gloomy and foggy. The hotel itself was amazing, with a spacious bathroom. That evening, we dined at a restaurant called Osteria Pastella. This place is popular among tourists, especially for the cheese wheel experience, where you can watch the pasta being made. The food is incredibly delicious. The next day, we had breakfast at the hotel, although it didn't compare to the buffet in Paris. The buffet in Florence offers fewer options, with more fruits than eggs and hashbrowns. After breakfast, we explored the city. Florence is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. Although we couldn't visit the leaning tower of Pisa due to weather conditions, the shopping plaza was my favorite part of the trip.

The next day, we were set to depart from Firenze and board the train to Rome, known as La Citta Eterna. We enjoyed our final breakfast at NH Collection. As we hurried to the train station, a sense of sadness began to creep in, knowing this was our final destination before returning home. We boarded the train and set off for Rome.

Hotel Rating: 10/10 - Unlike the NH Collection in Venice, the NH Collection in Florence was my favorite, even though the breakfast selection could be improved.

Hotel Shower: My favorite hotel showers were in Venice and Florence.

Essential Experiences in Florence: Osteria Pastella. This restaurant is a must-visit, particularly if you're interested in seeing the cheese wheel.
